Pathways of the eye's response to topical nitrogen mustard.

چکیده
We studied the effect of prior corneal herpes simplex infection with its resultant corneal hypesthesia on the irritative response of the rabbit eye to topical nitrogen mustard. Both the miosis and the breakdown of the blood-aqueous barrier that follow the application of topical nitrogen mustard were diminished in eyes infected three weeks previously with herpes simplex virus. Nonspecific corneal scarring did not affect the response. This suggests again that an axon reflex requiring intact sensory innervation mediates the response to nitrogen mustard. Pretreatment of normal (noninfected) rabbits with systemic H1 and H2 antihistamines, topical scopolamine hydrobromide, or topical and systemic corticosteroids was ineffective in blocking the miosis or increased protein in the aqueous humor following topical nitrogen mustard.

time to the enzyme was 24 hours at a concentration of 8,200 units per milliliter which would provide both an adequate contact time and enzyme concentration for glycosaminoglycan degradation. The quantitative examination of stromal tissue sections for glycosaminoglycans revealed that hyaluronic acid was lost entirely from the stroma and other sulfated compounds were also lost from the tissue. Background and aim: Chronic skin lesions are common late complications of sulfur mustard intoxication which would result in numerous complaints including pruritus, skin dryness and burn feeling. In chemical warfare injured veterans, pruritus is the most common complaint in chronic status with significant effects on patient's quality of life. This study has evaluated efficacy of topical ph...
متن کاملCompetition between Wild Mustard (Sinapis arvensis L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under Different rate of Nitrogen
To study the effects of applied nitrogen levels and wild mustard densities on the growth of wheat and wild mustard, a field experiment was conducted at Re-search and Experimental Field of Islamic Azad University of Ahvaz-Iran. The effects of three nitrogen levels namely 90, 150 and 210 kg.ha-1 and four wild mustard densities such as 0, 5, 10 and 15 plants.m-2 were evaluated in split plot arrang...
متن کاملEvaluation the Effect of Wild Mustard Densities and Nitrogen Fertilizer on Wheat Yield and Correlation between Traits
In order to study the effects of wild mustard competition and different levels of nitrogen on effective traits of wheat yield, this research was conducted in Ahvaz, south west of Iran. The study was consisted of a split plot experiment, on the basis of Randomized Complete Blocks Design with three replications. Different levels of nitrogen (90, 150 and 210 kgN.ha-1) were assigned in the main plo...
